City Awards recognized the Oregon Bears in 2005
as "Organization of the Year" and "Event
of the Year" for the Teddy Bear Drive
2004
Doug
Watson, Board Member and Oregon Bears President
2001-03 received the Leatherman of the Year Award
from Blackout Leather Productions for his work
building community partnerships and events within
the GLBT Community.
Oregon Bears and several of our Bear Members have been nominated for the 2004 Pantheon of Leather Community Service Awards for some important contributions - The Oregon Bears for Large Club of the Year, BearTown Weekend for Small Event of the Year, and members Alycyn Britton, Don Hood, Andy Mangels and Maria Webster for individual awards for their work in the Leather Community.
2003
As President, Doug Watson received a great honor of being selected to receive the Mama Bernice Award as Humanitarian of the Year 2003 from the Rose Court. Mama Bernice was Gail Kennedy's mother and former owner of the Dirty Duck before Gail, and was well known for mothering to her community.
2003
All City Awards recognized the Oregon Bears in 2003 as "Best Fundraiser of the Year" for our successful 2002 Bear Drive and Show at Darcelle XV Showplace which raised record numbers of Bears and cash donations to help children, familes and indviduals impacted by AIDS. This all community event successfully raised approximately $4,000 and collected over 300 teddy bears for Friends of PWA Foundation and the children at Doernbecher's Children's Hospital.

Charity
BearTown Weekend and our 2005 Titleholders raised $6,000 for Friends of PWA Foundation. Camp Oregon Bears raised $750 for Camp Starlight.
Our Teddy Bear Drive Fundraiser and our 2006 Titleholders raised over $8,000 for local charities. Miscellaneous fundraisers resulted in an additional $975 raised for local charities.
Following our 2005 BearTown Weekend annual event, $5,500 was donated to Friends of PWA Foundation. We also raised $232 for Mercy Corps to help out with Tsunami relief efforts and $354 for Tod's Corner to help with the household needs of people with AIDS.
Our Teddy Bear Drive fundraiser resulted in $4,300 raised for local charities.
Following
our 2004 Beartown Weekend annual event, $5,000 was donated to Friends of PWA Foundation.
During a warm
hearted memorial celebration to honor founding bear member
RB Hiatt, $450 was donated to go to Hopewell House in his
honor
$250 donated
to Friends of PWA Foundation and approximately $180
donated to Hopewell house via Camp OR Bears 2003 committee.
Following our
2003 Beartown Weekend annual event,
$3,500 was donated to Friends of PWA Foundation. Our Teddy Bear drive raised $4,000 and over 300 stuffed bears for local charities.
Our 2002 Teddy
Bear Drive Bear Hugs Review held at Darcelle's Showplace in
December was a huge success. This year $3,000 were raised and
we've collected approximately 300 bears for Friends and Doernbecher
Children's Hospital

Following our 2002 Beards
and Roses annual event, $2500 was donated to Friends of PWA
Foundation, our chosen charity for this year's event.

Oregon Bears
ended 2001 with our annual holiday Teddy Bear Drive. This
years effort was a great success with many bears being donated
at selected location collection centers, money being donated
by individuals and the tremendous success of our fundraising
show at Darcelle's showplace. Our great thanks go out to Darcelle,
Babalou, Laurel Hurst, Poison Waters and everyone else who
made this years drive such a great success. $1800 and 100
Teddy Bears donated to Friends of PWA Foundation and Doernbecher
Children's Hospital. |
